What's New
The Florida NHD revision program consists of a project
manager, QA/QC manager and three editors.
Full photo revision yields approximately 150 square miles
per month of updated data per editor.
In March 2012, the final Maintenance Lite revisions were
updated to the FDEP FTP site and SDE (for use in MapDirect and
DataMiner). The Maintenance Lite effort focused primarily on the
existing data where the editors ran extensive quality control
tests.
Topology (overlap) errors, network continuity, and
attribute validation are a few examples of what the editors
are addressing.
Performing Maintenance Lite can take from a couple days
to a few weeks depending on the severity of the revision
needed and is commonly performed on up to three sub basins
at a time per editor.
The entire state will be reviewed through Maintenance
Lite which means the NHD will be more useable to a greater
number of people in a much shorter amount of time than what
it would take for full photo revision across the entire
state.
Full photo revision should proceed much faster once
Maintenance Lite is complete.
Prioritization of sub basin editing is derived from date of
original USGS 24K DLG quadrangle data, TMDL/WBID requests for
updates, contractual agreements, requests from county/regional
government and requests for miscellaneous revisions.
