Assessment and Restoration Support

The Department announces the completion of a revised Florida Numeric Nutrient Criteria Development Plan for the development of numeric nutrient criteria. This plan, which was recently submitted to EPA, provides detailed plans for the expedited development of numeric nutrient criteria for Florida’s lakes, streams and estuaries.

Overview of Program Responsibilities

The Assessment and Restoration Support Program is a multidisciplinary environmental program responsible for implementing the Department’s technical responsibilities for the State’s Water Quality Standards Program and various south Florida ecosystem restoration programs. These responsibilities include:

  • Continuing effective and efficient implementation of Florida’s Water Quality Standards.

  • Providing technical and regulatory support for projects being implemented through the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program, the Everglades Program required by the Everglades Forever Act, and the Lake Okeechobee Protection Program.
