DEP’s Easy as One Initiative and Swix to Host Operation Medicine Cabinet and Recycling Event

~Free event collecting unwanted medications, used cell phones and plastic bags protects the environment and public safety~

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Easy As One initiative and the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX) will co-sponsor a free Operation Medicine Cabinet collection event in Tallahassee on Saturday, November 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Costco. Bring expired or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications for proper disposal, retail plastic bags to be recycled and working and non-working used cell phones and chargers to be donated to charity.

This event is for households only. Business waste will not be accepted. Medications should be kept in original containers with their labels and personal information marked out. Sharps, medical wastes and thermometers will not be accepted.

The collection will take place:
